Issa Rae Working on New HBO Drama

Our girl Issa Rae is working.

After a successful second season of her hit show Insecure, the talented actress/writer/director/producer is developing a new HBO drama that follows a black family in early-1990s Los Angeles. The new drama will be going thru the post-Regan era into the Clinton era with a hard-working family of Sheryl and Jackson. One a former an envelope bounds-pushing real estate agent and the latter a conflicted LAPD anti-gang task force recruit. The potential series will also feature the couples’ teen daughter and son, Ebony and Les.

Rae will executive produce the untitled series, along with The Turner House author Angela Flournoy. Flournoy, a NAACP Image Award nominee, will also write the series.

With a renewal for Insecure and her first major movie role things are looking pretty up for the homie Issa Rae.
