Fabolous Remembers Releasing His Debut Album ‘Ghetto Fabolous’ on 9/11

September 11th 2001 was not only a date to remember in American History but for the music world, it was a date to remember as well.

Jay Z Blueprint album dropped as well as the kid other kid from Brooklyn who was backed by a Queens DJ, Fabolous debut album Ghetto Fabolous dropped with music acclaim.

Fab sat down with the website Genius to discuss what the album meant to him at that time 15 years ago.

“This was my first album, something that I was really excited about. It’s all you think about. But after I saw what was going on in the world and in New York City, I put my baby on the back burner,” he said. “I woke up and got a phone call saying that all of our promo plans for the album were canceled and I didn’t know why. Jay Z dropped The Blueprint album the same day, so I was like, ‘Ahhh Jay Z sabotaged us.’ But it was the 9/11 tragedy.”
